The sudden decision made by the official Administrators of Adamson University is raising the cap on tuition fees up to 8% for the Academic Year 2020-2021.

It underwent a series of consultation and meetings, which focused primarily on the projects and enhanced facilities acquired to reach the accreditation standards and autonomous status of the university.

However, in accordance with the Sec. 5 of Republic Act 6728 or the Government Assistance to the Students and Teachers in Private Education Act, the marketization agenda represents only the progress for closures, better wages, and the working conditions of the staff.

As the proposal was smoothly pushed through, the major bodies of students: Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) and The Adamson Chronicle disagreed with such and asserted a no tuition fee increase.

It was also noted in consideration of the recent disaster that happened such as the Zobel fire incident and Taal Volcano eruption, wherein students residing in the said areas have been affected, including their financial status.

It also concerned the defective equipment and facilities that did not reflect on the implemented tuition fee increase last Academic Year 2018-2019.

An exorbitant 8% increase in tuition is certainly beneficial to the law students for the better enhancement of their computers/facilities in the library. Although it will have a positive outcome, the students think that the proposed hike may be too much.

On the other hand, many have agreed to the tuition fee increase and those people were as follows; university sectors’ representatives, students’ parents, Graduate School Association, Alumni Association, and the College of Law Student Government (CLSG).

Meanwhile, the parents’ representative who is also an employee of the university claimed that the tuition hike is for the development of the educational system as well as the facilities of the school.

In the face of any changes, AdU remains constant from its avowed mission as the country’s pioneering educational institution that enriches the quality of education.
